Teresa May made a statement following her talks with Brussels

In it, she stated the fact that the negotiation process had reached a dead end. In the statement, in particular, it is noted that the head of the European Council Donald Tusk believes that the proposals of London can not be accepted. They undermine the single market of the European Union. At the same time, the EU proposes to keep Northern Ireland in the customs union. And this, according to May, is unacceptable because it threatens the integrity of the country. The UK will never agree to accept such an offer.

The British prime minister also stressed that the parties involved in the negotiations should not offer each other unacceptable conditions. The current situation in the negotiations is complex. Brussels cannot accept London’s proposals, and the UK cannot accept EU conditions. They contradict the results of the referendum and the interests of British citizens.

Privilegedly, Theresa Mae noted that in the final stages of the negotiations, the proposals of London cannot be simply rejected. The refusal must be substantiated in detail. And instead of the rejected option, there should be another offer that would suit both parties. The United Kingdom is looking forward to concrete and implementable proposals from the European Union. At the same time, the British government will continue to prepare for exit from the EU without a deal.
