British Prime Minister Teresa Mae has cancelled the parliamentary vote. She said she intends to continue negotiations with the European Union in order to achieve better terms of the agreement. Speaking in Strasbourg, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that it was impossible to hold any additional negotiations on the deal. According to him, the agreement reached is the best thing that can be done in this situation. The junker allows discussion of any details, but categorically rejects possibility of entering of significant changes in the document.
Theresa Mae acknowledged that the draft agreement on Brexit would not be approved by Parliament. And in this case, the exit from the European Union will occur under a rigid scenario, which will lead to very negative consequences for the country. The British Prime Minister has already held several meetings with senior European officials. In particular, during a meeting with Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk, she demanded that the agreement include additional guarantees on the Irish border. Theresa May also met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Voting in the UK Parliament on the terms of the agreement with Brussels has been postponed to 21 January next year.
